Our Team – Loren Weber
Art Therapist
Loren is a registered Art Therapist with over three years clinical experience in the mental health and disability sectors. She has a passion for the power of art to transcend cultural, social and communication barriers and has experience working with a variety of creative mediums. Loren believes in working with individuals within a person-centred framework to identify what is most meaningful to them and working towards pursuing opportunities to achieve personal happiness.
Loren has experience working with individuals with complex needs including major mental illness, drug and alcohol addiction, developmental delay, Autism Spectrum Disorders, intellectual and learning difficulties. She has experience in delivering programs in a variety of contexts, including day programs, therapeutic communities, hospital settings, community groups and focused open studio groups.
Loren holds a Masters of Art Therapy, Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling and a Bachelor of Arts(Humanities; Social Psychology, Fine Art) from Western Sydney University and a Masters Media and Production (Film) from University of Technology, Sydney.
Over the past three years Loren has worked developing and implementing group and individual programs within a special needs day programs for clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental delay, mental illness and behaviours of concern; tailoring programs to individual and group needs and providing opportunity for development of social skills, exploring identity, increasing self-esteem, anxiety reduction and relaxation. She has also enjoyed working in a therapeutic community with clients recovering from addictions, and supporting them to address associated issues such as grief and loss, family breakdowns and trauma.
She holds a current registration as Professional Member of ANZACATA.
