Our Team – Lisa Battersby
Lisa is an occupational therapist and mental health clinician with over sixteen years experience working with people whose ability to do the things they want and need to be able to do is impacted by difficulties with their thinking, behaviour and mental health.
Lisa has unwavering belief in the potential for all people to progress towards a more satisfying and meaningful life – a belief that has been tried and tested time and again with individuals considered “too complex”, “too institutionalised” and “beyond help”.
Lisa has a strong commitment to learning and development for herself as well as building the capacity of those working with individuals with complex support needs. She continues to enjoy roles of clinical supervision, training and education for both individuals and teams.
Lisa graduated from the University of Sydney in 2002 with a Bachelor Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) and started her career working with people with traumatic and acquired brain injuries. Lisa moved to the United Kingdom in 2004 completing a number of locum positions in neurological rehabilitation before accepting a role in a medium security psychiatric hospital where she worked until her return to Australia.
Between 2009-2013 Lisa held senior clinical roles at Justice Health, working with individuals with a history of severe mental illness and problem behaviours.
She completed a post Graduate Certificate (Health & Social Care) at Salford University in Manchester, United Kingdom in 2008 and a Masters in Forensic Mental Health at University of NSW in 2012. Since commencing private practice in 2013 Lisa has continued to work predominantly with people whose life participation has been interrupted by mental health conditions along with any number of other factors affecting the body and mind.
